Mumbai : Times Centre for Learning Limited (TCLL), a subsidiary of Bennett, Coleman & Co. Ltd (BCCL), recently entered into an MOU with Maharashtra State Skill Development Society (MSSDS) for an industry linked skill development and training program.
Under this Memorandum of Understanding TCLL, the education initiative of The Times of India Group, shall impart training that is relevant to the needs of the industry under ‘Pramod Mahajan Kaushalaya Vikas and Udyojakata Abhiyan’ to 15000 unemployed youth in Maharashtra over a period of three years. Over this duration TCLL, as an active partner, will directly participate in skill development training and impart knowledge to the youth in sectors such as Healthcare, IT/ITes and Logistics.
Commenting on the partnership Mr. Anish Srikrishna, President, TCLL, says, “We are proud to be associated with MSSDS and the Government of Maharashtra. As an organization, we are committed to help to bridge the gap between the youth’s skillsets and industry’s specific requirements.”

MSSDS will coordinate and integrate various departments of the State and Central Government, industry partners in providing them employment oriented skill development training.
Mr. E. Ravendiran, Commissioner, Skill Development, Employment & Entrepreneurship Maharashtra State says, “The need for job-based skilling is a dire need in the industry. I feel with our partnership with TCLL, the unemployed youth will do well to learn and upgrade their skills which are relevant to various industry categories.”
These courses will be devised as per the quality parameters of National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF), which is driven by the National Skills Qualifications Committee (NSQC). Besides determining the need for relevant qualifications required in the industry, the NSQC’s functions also include prescribing guidelines to address the needs of disadvantaged sections in society and alignment of NSQF with international qualification frameworks.
Backed by the experience and training expertise of TCLL and its robust education framework, this partnership with MSSDS promises to go a long way as far as skilling of youth in Maharashtra besides fulfilling the primary objective of generating employment for them.
