Pune : At least 30,000 youths from backward communities will be given skill training every year by Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Research and Training Institute (BARTI), said social justice and special assistance department Minister Rajkumar Badole today.
Speaking at an inaugural ceremony of Kushal Maharashtra Melawa, one day guidance event on skill development, Mr Badole stressed on the need to take skill development programmes to the marginalized sections of the society.
A large population of the slums is from the backward communities. The same is true for rural areas; most of the economically deprived communities are from these social segments. It is essential of train and equip such people, he said, adding that in future, skill development will also focus women,widows, domestic helps, and regions where Human Development Index is very low, he said.
Since 2014, BARTI has had 26,000 enrollments for skill development, 6,000 of these candidates have been trained and 3,500 of them are now employed and remaining ones are undergoing training. This is a commendable job by BARTI.
Minister of State for Scial Justice and Special Assistance, Relief and Rehabilitation, Minorities Development and State Excise Deilip Kamble, Deputy Mayor of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Dr Siddharth Dhende, director general of BARTI Rajesh Dhabre, career guidance expert VivekVelankar, registrar of BARTI Savita Nalawade and project director of the skill Development department Rupali Avale were present on the occasion.
