Pune : Students pursuing diploma courses from the government polytechnic colleges in the state have to take up industrial training for a period of six weeks during the academic tenure, starting from this year, according to the official information from Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education (MSBTE).
The students will have to undergo the training after the fourth semester ends. This year, 67,000 students from across the state will undergo industrial training in 10,242 companies from May 26 onwards.
“Earlier, students had to opt for hands-on training after completing the technical courses. Now, when the state technical education department has added the 6-week training in the semester itself, students can gain benefit out of it. Students can get familiar with the work culture, as well,” said V R Jadhav, secretary, MSBTE
He said that committees have been formed at the state-level, zone-level and district-level to look into the arrangements for the training.
“Members from Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), MSRTC (Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation), district industry centre, Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation and a professor from Government polytechnic will be part of the committees. This training will help students get placed easily after completing the course,” he said.
Meanwhile, the admission procedure for the diploma courses for the academic year 2019-2020, would be conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education and not by the state examination department.
