Bathinda : Maiden Skill Development Training Centre recently started in the city under the Punjab Skill Development Mission (PSDM) is all set to provide a quality, trained and skilled force, which would get handsome placement immediate after completion of their respective training.
Free of cost training operations is taking place at Bibi Wala Road under the banner of ‘HUNAR’ (skill).The centre has started three batches of 20 students each including boys and girls for retails sector, who after getting three months training would get placements in country’s renowned retail outlets. Hailing from below poverty line families, these matriculate students were being provided training in display of retail goods, billing, cash, computer, customer service and soft skills so that they could receive adequate monthly income under the mission.
Extending special focus on this prestigious project, the district administration is going to start such skill development centres (SDCs) in Rampura Phul, Talwandi Sabo and Maur subdivisions.The state had fixed a target to provide training to 1,100 trainees in 2015-16. Training is being provided by trainers having MBA in Retail Management with two-three years experience in retail sector.
Bathinda Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Shena Aggarwal said the first NSHM – UDAAN Skill Development Institute was established on Bibi Wala Road, where 60 trainees were under training including girls.The next institute was being set up near Gurdwara Singh Sabha adjacent to Quila (fort) in the city. Four batches of 30 trainees each will get training in the upcoming centre while the same will be replicated in the centres being developed at Sub Divisional Level.
This 90 days training would prove a boon for trainees from BPL families, added Shena. She said the requisite retail books and study material was also being provided free of cost to trainees. Students with matric passed certificate and above 18 years of age were eligible for this training programme. She also urged the masses to take full advantage of this scheme so that maximum eligible youngsters could be placed in major retail outlets.The ADC also informed that the desirous candidates could contact NSHM Udaan Skill Foundation for further information regarding enrollment in training programme.
