Skill Training Program launched for displaced youth in Manipur

Imphal: A skill training programme for internally displaced youths was launched on 10 May along with a programme of operationalization of PHC Borobekara in electronic mode and coach certification. The dual programmes launch was organized by department of Tourism in collaboration with Directorate of Health Services and department of Youth Affairs and Sports at the auditorium of Manipur State Film Development Society, Imphal.

Justice Gita Mittal, Chairperson, Supreme Court appointed Committee on Relief and Rehabilitation in Manipur and Dr.Vineet Joshi, chief secretary were present as presidium members.

Lenin Singh Hijam, advocate general of Manipur; M.H. Khan, additional chief secretary; N. Kheda Varta Singh, secretary YAS; Hungyo Worshang, special secretary; Naorem Praveen Singh, additional chief electoral officer; Dr. Nivedita Haran, expert in Relief and Rehabilitation; and Arghya Sengupta, expert in Data Analysis also attended the event in the dais as esteemed guest of honours.

Hungyo said, through dialogues from all the stakeholders, a positive and amicable solution can be brought out in such a prevailing situation of Manipur (Meitei-Kuki conflict).

Under the aegis of ‘Hunar se Rozgar Tak’ scheme and training programmes on skill development, tele medicine facilities and coach certification in five categories will definitely support and significantly benefit many displaced youths, and will in turn, will ensure livelihoods for their respective families, he added.

Justice Gita emphasized the extreme need of the function at such a sensitive situation in Manipur. She expressed her deep concern and empathy on the prevailing situation of Manipur and conveyed her solidarity with the people of Manipur.

She urged everyone, particularly the displaced youths, to get enrolled and avail the opportunities provided to them through the skill training programmes. She said, on the first phase and as a pilot project, these programmes are introduced to six districts of Manipur, Kakching, Kangpokpi, Churachandpur, Bishnupur, Imphal East and Imphal West.

She assured that the remaining districts will also be covered at the nearest future. She appealed all the departments concerned to implement and accomplish the objectives of the said programmes with dedication.

A virtual as well as physical interactive session with the trainees from Kangpokpi, Kakching, Bishnupur, Imphal West and Imphal East districts were also held.
