Nagaland Govt to develop facilities for quality technical and professional training

Dimapur : A delegation from Government of Nagaland visited New Delhi over the last few days in relation to developing facilities for quality technical and professional training for the youth of Nagaland.

The team was led by Advisor for Industries & Commerce, and Department of Labour, Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Imnatiba along with Lithrongla G. Chishi, IAS, Commissioner & Secretary, Industries & Commerce and Additional Charge of Secretary IDAN; R. Asenla Kietzar, IAS, Commissioner & Secretary Labour, Employment & Skill Development, along with other senior officials from both the departments.

During their visit, Kuolie Mere, PRO (IPR), Nagaland House, New Delhi in a press release stated that the delegation met with various agencies, institutions and corporate to understand the latest works being undertaken in the field of skill development, training and entrepreneurship, and how it applies in the context of the State of Nagaland, in alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.”

On September 16, Imnatiba attended the official opening ceremony of “Spotlight in Singapore in Delhi 2019”, Singapore’s premier cultural diplomacy platform. The next day, a meeting was held between Imnatiba and the delegation with representatives from Furniture & Fittings Skill Council (FFSC). The delegation interacted with Rahul Mehta, COO, FFSC, and Devesh Sharma, Head State Engagements, FFSC, and also visited the FFSC Center of Excellence in Faridabad to better understand the curriculum and training ecosystem.

The delegation, on September 18 met with representatives of iDreamCareer and TTC to discuss the opportunity of introducing career counselling to school-going students between grades 9th to 12th. The approach towards psychometric evaluation of school-going students for deciding appropriate career paths was discussed in the meeting. They also had a meeting with Shalabh Rastogi, Head Business Development, Ruby Metrology, regarding their “Quick Check Educational Kit” – a skill development tool to create industry-ready human resources and increasing their employability.

They also visited Common Services Centre (CSC) e-governance, Ministry of Electronics & IT, Government of India, where opportunities for convergence on improving the skilling ecosystem in Nagaland were explored. Chief Strategy Officer of CSC shared the prominent services pertaining to the domain like Entrepreneurship Development Programme, e-commerce nodes, various government scheme linkages, etc. facilitated by CSC. Further, opportunities for development of ITIs and polytechnic colleges through CSC were discussed during the meeting.

Imnatiba and the delegation also met with Devendra Joshi, Chief Manager CSR (HRS), CO, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (BPCL), to discuss the modalities of how BPCL can support Nagaland in the setting up of a new Skill Development and Training Institutes and also the rejuvenation of older it is in the State. Imnatiba also organised a meeting on the same evening with scholars, experts and entrepreneurs from Nagaland who have been living and working in New Delhi for many years, to get their views for the betterment of Nagaland. Also attending was RK Panigrahi, an expert with broad experience in skill development, invited to share his views on the topic.

The delegation was assisted during its visit by Think Through Consulting (TTC), a firm with a global footprint, offering sustainable development advisory services.

Imnatiba and industry officials also attended an interaction with FICCI, where Imnatiba spoke about Nagaland handlooms industry and how the rich heritage of cloth from Nagaland can be leveraged to give a boost to the State economy and provide opportunities for the people of Nagaland to grow.
