Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission organized 5 Youth Mela to spread awareness on skill development

Kiphire : As part of the extended Gram Swaraj Abhiyan for ‘Aspirational’ districts, a Youth Mela was held across five RD blocks of Kiphire district on July 18-19.

Under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY), the skill development and placement programme of Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), Government of India, Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM) conducted awareness programmes on skill development and placement for unemployed educated and uneducated youths at the block headquarters, a release stated.

The Youth Mela was led by DRDA Kiphire Project Officer, Razukhru D. Vasa and Albert Yandongse, Assistant District Program Manager, NSRLM, Kiphire.

“Under DDU-GKY, rural youths in the age group of 15-35 years can undergo skill development and placement free of cost which is inclusive of food, accommodation, uniforms, learning materials and one-time travel to place of placement,” the release further informed.

DDU-GKY programme is implemented on Private-Public-Partnership (PPP) mode, where eligible organizations with valid permanent registration number (PRN) implement the programme as Project Implementing Partners (PIAs).

Currently, 5 PIAs – Nagaland Tool Room and Training Center, Pinnacle Skills, Dum Dum Bangiya Vidyapeeth, Gyanjyoti Foundation, and E-Centric – are assigned skill training and placement target of 3940 rural youths.

Further, NSRLM will be organizing one day Job Fair in Kiphire on July 30 in collaboration with YouthNet. During the Job Fair, YouthNet with its partner companies will be interviewing rural youths and offer direct job letter to the successful candidates, the release added.
