Nagpur : With a view to impart quality education and skill-based training to its students, Nagpur University recently inked a pact with Wardha-based Smart Skill Tech Private Limited. It was signed between vice chancellor SP Kane and Smart Skill Tech’s Vipin Bhatia. Pro-VC Pramod Yeole, Board of College and University Development (BCUD) director Dinesh Agrawal, students welfare director Nihal Sheikh, deputy registrars Pradeep Biniwale, Anil Hirekhan and media coordinator Shyam Dhond were present during the event.
As per the communique, the training would start from August first week. Initially, a pilot project would be undertaken where five colleges from Nagpur and Wardha would be selected to provide skill-based training to their students. The NSQF aligned skill training would be imparted across ten subjects, including information technology, logistics, cosmetics, retail, agriculture and related industries, event management, tourism and construction among others.
It also aimed at providing better employment opportunities to those from Vidarbha, who lacked basic skills required for getting jobs for the industries.
Speaking on the occasion, VC said skill-based training would help the students to land decent jobs in various industries coming in Vidarbha. “They don’t have to worry about change in syllabus, as training programme wouldn’t be part of it,” he said.
