Banka: It was a dream come true for the residents of extremely remote village Kotwaali-Harchandii under Rajoun block in Banka district as chief minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated the building of government polytechnic.
Nitish also announced to open a government engineering college and a polytechnic and ITI (Industrial Training Institute) exclusively for women in every district of the state in coming days.
This was the first visit of Nitish to Banka after the assembly elections last year. Constructed at an expenditure of Rs 35 lakh by the state government, the polytechnic at Rajoun block is the first of its kind in Banka district and 32nd to be managed and run by the state government, affiliated by the State Board of Technical Education (SBTE), in different districts apart from the 30 private polytechnic colleges in the state for imparting three-year diploma courses.
Addressing the gathering at the Amhara High School ground, Nitish said, “Students should try to make optimum use of the academic facilities to enhance their knowledge. Opening new polytechnics is a part of my ‘Saat Nischay (seven resolves)’ scheme which aims at making youths self-reliant through education, skill development, providing education loan, electricity connection in villages, piped water supply to every household and road and drainage in urban areas.”
Nitish was accompanied by science and technology minister Jai Kumar Singh, PHED minister Krishnandan Prasad Verma and others.
