Bengaluru : The Karnataka Vocational Training and Skill Development Corporation Ltd. is all set to organize skill development programmes for senior citizens.
A new programme is targeted at men and women aged between 60 to 70 years to make them skilled enough to be employed in indoor jobs. Around 120 companies will participate in the programme to be held on March 19 at St. Joseph’s College on Richmond Road to hire or train senior citizens in various departments, including HR, accounts, and maintenance. Training will be provided to introduce them to the digital world and technology to bring them up to date with today’s requirements. “There is a need to engage the youth with senior citizens. There is a need for caretakers and nurses at home for aged people. We plan to train the youth to take up that responsibility. It will be a win-win situation for both,” said Muralidhar Halappa, Chairman, Skill Development Corporation.
The corporation plans to have computers and trained operators in all district headquarters to help youth create resumes and apply to various companies and to teach them basic English communication skills.
