Bhubaneswar : Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik flagged off two skill caravans named Dakshata Rath and inaugurated a special Industrial Training Institute (ITI) for physically-challenged students in Khurda district on the World Youth Skills Day (Saturday).
The Dakshata Raths would move on two routes and cover all the 30 districts in 15 days ending on July 30. The Raths would cover at total of10,000 km. The DigiPlex mobile theatre vans would display skill related videos with Dolby sound tracks to the trainees/students and would also facilitate online interaction with role models located outside.
“Skill development is a major focus of the State Government and we plan to skill more than six lakh youths in next two years with brand called Skilled-in-Odisha. All children, including differently-abled, would be covered,” the Chief Minister said.
“Skilled-in-Odisha is not an initiative any more. It has turned into a movement. Odisha is leading the way in skill development & already recognized by Union Government as the ‘Best Performing State’ in the country. We are committed to not just transform Skilled-in-Odisha into a global brand but make it a model worth to replicated across the world,” he added.
Addressing a Press conference, Skill Development Chairman Subrato Bagchi said the two Dakshata Raths were launched to create awareness and share information with all the stakeholders of the skill development programmes.
He said there would be district level caravans that would visit all the panchayats, high schools and Skill Development Centres (SDCs). District level officials will be involved in these campaigns.
