Warangal (Telangana) : Rural District Collector Prashanth J Patil directed the district officials to chalk out a plan of action to create self-employment for unemployed youth in the district.
He chaired the district consultative committee meeting in Hanamkonda on Thursday. The officials of Lead Bank, DRDA, agriculture, SC, ST, BC and minority welfare departments, industries, Rural Self Employment Training Institute (RSETI) and others attended the meeting.
Discussions were held on the nature of training to be imparted to the youth towards self-employment creation. Stress was laid on laying special focus on dairy development activities, sericulture, horticulture and allied activities in view of the rural background of the district.
Enthusiastic teams of youth and farmers have to be identified for imparting skill development training. The training should be provided locally so that their day-to-day works would not be affected, the Collector suggested.
The DRDA and RSETI officials should conduct a study of potential areas that would be helpful to create self-employment. Continuous monitoring by bankers should be ensured in order to achieve better results in terms of income generating activities, Prashanth Patil added.
While distributing the loans, priority should be given to the trained youth from SC, ST, BC and minority communities. The Financial Literacy Credit Council has to be set specific goals to achieve results in rural areas, he pointed out.
