Punjab : The Punjab Government plans to open skill development centres in all jails of the state with an aim to empower inmates for their life, after they are released from the jail.
Sewa Singh Sekhwan, chairman Punjab State Board of Technical and Industrial Training, will inaugurate the scheme from the Central Jail, Patiala, on Tuesday 14th June, 2016.
All jails will have a center where inmates sentenced to imprisonment will be imparted with skill development techniques training. Government expects that delivery of such training will act as multi-targeting tool to reducing crime, enhancing employ-ability and reducing skilled workforce crisis faced by industry in Punjab.
