Jaipur : Rajeendra and Ursula Joshi (RUJ) Group has announced an investment of Rs. 500 crore in the Bhartiya Skill Development University, Jaipur (BSDU). BSDU has signed 26 MoUs with key industries and educational institutions and plans to open over 36 skill schools within its campus by 2020. This investment made by the RUJ Group will be done to establish Schools of Polymechanic Skills, Automotive Skills, Carpenter Skills and the other upcoming skill schools in the next three years at the BSDU.
The University is known for skilling youth by adopting and modifying its curriculum based on industry requirements. Established in 2016, the University which is based on the unique model of the Swiss Dual System of education comprising ‘On the job training’ and ‘Vocational school’; this model will be replicated by many skills universities in the country. BSDU was recently visited by Mr. Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India and was urged to incorporate PhD programmes and linguistic programmes by the Minister. The BSDU has already incorporated the PhD programme in its curriculum which focuses on skill oriented fields of research.

SS Pabla, President, Bhartiya Skill Development University, Jaipur said, “Policy changes in vocational training and education supported with phenomenal initiatives and efforts made by the Government of India have contributed to the emerging changes of education in India. These changes and enhancements in education policies allowing private and voluntary organizations in setting up and investing in technical institutions through self financing has given that added push to the technical and vocational education in the country. To support growth, employability, challenges, opportunities, gaps, demand, supply of the workforce and their development through vocational training and apprenticeship programmes alongwith need for Skill Development in various sectors, BSDU will soon introduce 36 skill schools in its campus.”
Brig. SS Pabla further added, “The BSDU’s objective is to remove disconnect between the demand and supply of skilled talent through skill training and vocational training programmes and offer talent to the industry that has both exposure and experience alongwith innovative thought process. The higher education system in India is changing fast to cater for skills education and Bhartiya Skill Development University, Jaipur is spearheading this welcome change. BSDU has already signed 26 MoUs in skills sector with companies and educational institutions. DAIKIN Air-conditioner has recently invested Rs. 30 lacs on equipment for establishment of a Center of Excellence at the BSDU on Refrigeration and Air-conditioning.”
BSDU has signed an MoU with Govt of Rajasthan for Establishing a Skill Development University based on the Swiss Dual Model of Skills Education. Likewise it has signed an MoU with Govt of Rajasthan & Photonic International Pte. Ltd, Singapore for Collaboration and Support for Establishing Photonics Training and Research Centre. The University has entered into a collaboration with Institute of Sustainable Communities, USA in Skill Development, Training, Placement, R&D and Related Services and with Apex Hospitals Pvt Ltd Jaipur for Skill Development, Training, Placement, R&D and Related Services. MoUs have also been signed with Rajasthan Technical University, Kota,The Employers’ Association of Rajasthan and Bhardwaj Foundation, Jaipur for Skill Development, outcome based trainings, placement, R&D and related Services.
The University is in the process of establishing Centres of Excellence in the areas of its core strengths. The School of Polymechanic Skills, the School of Automotive Skills, School of Carpenter Skills and the other schools are equipped with world class machines and other resources. These are benchmarked against the best in the world in their respective skill areas. BSDU offers Skill Certificate, Diploma, Advance Diploma, Bachelor of Vocation (B.Voc), Master of Vocation (M.Voc) and Ph.D in various skill areas. BSDU programs are in compliance with UGC Instructions for Vocational Programs, National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF), AICTE Instruction for Vocational Programs, NSQF, RPL (Recognition of Previous Learning) Guidelines, Guidelines of respective Sector Skill Councils (SSC), National Occupational Standards (NOS) and Skills Qualification Packs.
