New Delhi : The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) launched a software called ‘online in-service teacher capacity building programme.
The SCERT, in a bid to help teachers accomplish an in-depth knowledge of their subjects, has come up with this software which will help as many 50 Maths teachers and 70 mentor teachers working in different schools operating under the Directorate of Education.
The objective of the programme is topic-based training which will be provided to teachers and the topics will be chosen from school text books. The progrmme is aimed at training some 50,000 teachers.
The objective of the programme, in general, is to enhance teacher-to-teacher communication, to enable student-centred teaching approaches, and to provide round the clock accessibility to course material and to build the capacity of in-service teachers.
The duration of the online training will be eight hours in a single sitting as the programme has been perceived to facilitate training as per the convenience of the trainees by devoting at least half an hour a day on mobile app or web from anywhere.
This will not only help teachers to ensure qualitative improvement in the teaching-learning process, but will also encourage sharing among teachers as a community.
