Hyderabad: Speakers at the Indo-Global Education and Skills Summit & Expo-2017 have underlined the need of skill development in all sectors to make India a global super power.
The Chief Guest K.Padmanabhaiah, Chairman, ASCI,stressed on the need for focusing on the skill development in all sectors. “We need skilled manpower in all sectors that are key for overall development,” he said while lauding the role of IITs and Polytechnic colleges in skill development. He also emphasised on the need of internship programmes in all courses.
Telangana IT Secretary, Jayesh Ranjan said that in-house training was being imparted for youngsters in Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge(TASK) with the support of the industry in an attempt to create skilled manpower. “We have a different approach to training. Telangana is perhaps the only State in the country that offers skilled manpower for free of cost to the companies that come up in the State.”
Dr. Ghanta Subba Rao, Secretary to Govt., Skill Development, Entrepreneurship & Innovation Dept., Government of Andhra Pradesh, elaborated the efforts being made through AP’s Skill Development Corporation.
Dr Sandhya Chintala, Vice President, NASSCOM & Executive Director, IT & ITES Sector Skills Council, New Delhi, Mr.J.Harikrishnan, Chief Operating Officer, Kerala Academy of Skills and others spoke.
The Indus Foundation chairman C.D. Arha said that the event was a precursor to six major summits to take place in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Kolkata and New Delhi in July.
He said: “The Indo-Global Skills Summit & Expo 2017 aims to take a deeper look at the present skill ecosystem, map it against the future trends, identify future jobs & skill requirements and propose a way to re-engineer the skill ecosystem. The Summit & Expo will examine collaboration between universities and industries for skills development; the generation, acquisition, and adoption of knowledge (innovation and technology transfer); and the promotion of entrepreneurship (start-ups and spin-offs).”
The Indus Foundation president S.B.Anumolu said that the CEOs Networking event, followed by the summit, ensured fruitful discussions that could pave the way for possible partnership in the field of education and training.
The event was organised by the Indus Foundation with the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) as the knowledge partner.
