University of Jammu is likely to offer skill development programmes in collaboration with Global Village Foundation, Concentrix Limited and NASSCOM Foundation. The decision was taken in a round table discussion held today, chaired by Vice Chancellor, Prof RD Sharma across the board of Foundation heads. To discuss the broad contours, a team led by Raj K Nehru, India Business HR Leader at Concentrix Limited and Governing Council Member for Global Village Foundation and Director Haryana State Electronics Corporation Limited along with Shrikant Sinha, CEO, NASSCOM Foundation, Pravin Kumar, COO, Global Talent Track Private Limited, Sidharth Sudan, Senior Manager, HR, Concentrix and Prof Neelu Rohmetra, Rector Kathua Campus and Director International Centre for Cross Cultural Research and Human Resource Management, University of Jammu called on Prof RD Sharma and apprised the VC about the proposed mechanism for training the youth of J&K with support of Concentrix Limited. The deliberations were also held with regards to setting up of Skill Development Centre in the Main and the Offsite Campuses of the University of Jammu.
Shrikant Sinha gave a detailed presentation of the proposal for the skill development courses across identified standard skills by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship(MSDE). To begin with, the programme is likely to be delivered by the trained corporate faculty through two Nodal Centres of the University of Jammu, as the Kathua Campus and ICccR & HRM at the main campus of the University of Jammu.
Prof Neelu Rohmetra will act as the Nodal Facilitator for the University of Jammu and will also be coordinating with the colleges and campuses of the region for the purpose.
As a part of CSR initiative undertaken by the Concentrix Limited and NASSCOM Foundation, two month certificate programme on skill development was launched at two nodal centres namely ICccR & HRM and Kathua Campus. The programme will be certified by NASSCOM Foundation and other partners, having validity for further jobs. The students will be trained in a batch of 30 students each for different programmes which will simultaneously run at different locations in Jammu region. There are 70 skill development programmes which will be offered under the NASSCOM Foundation, Concentrix Limited and University of Jammu tie-up. The tie-up will culminate into organising and bringing in job fairs and placement opportunities at the undergraduate level.
Prof RD Sharma said that all needed internal support will be provided by the University of Jammu in this objective and direction and University will be pursuing such initiatives very vigorously once it is finalized.
The faculty of Kathua Campus and International Centre for Cross Cultural Research and Human Resource Management were also present for the round table discussion.
