Tiruchi : The Department of Employment and Training would conduct a district-level skill competition to select best projects of the district which would participate in the State-level skill summit to be conducted through the Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation.
The State-level skill summit is planned as an exercise to motivate students and enable institutions and industries to come out with creative designs of new product and innovative workable ideas for industry and the service sector, Collector K. Rajamani said.
It would be a platform for encouraging innovations, showcasing skills and recognizing talents of students, workers and educational institutions in the State, he added.
As a first step, the district-level skill competition would be held to select projects to represent the district in the summit. The competition, to be held on October 5 at the Oxford Engineering College, would be conducted in three fields such as mechanical engineering, electrical and electronics engineering, and electronics and information technology.
Candidates who have passed out of ITI’s, polytechnics, graduates and apprentices who are undergoing training in industries; employees of industries and skill persons with short term training and skilled persons with practical experience in unorganized sector can take part in the competitions. Winners will qualify for the State-level summit. Winners at the State-level would get cash prizes.
