Hyderabad : All new district headquarters in the State of Telangana will have skill development training centres to be set up by the Employment Generation and Marketing Mission (EGMM) to make the youth job-ready.
The decision was taken at the first governing body meeting of the EGMM held here on Monday. Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Jupally Krishna Rao, who is also the chairman of the body also announced an increase in the salary of job resources persons, 89 in all, from the existing Rs.5,000 per month to Rs.7,500 per month.
The minister directed the officials to extend the skill development training programmes of EGMM to rural areas by setting up centres in all district headquarters, to begin with.
Talking tough against the agencies which were not functioning properly in running the training centres, Mr. Krishna Rao directed the officials to remove the ones with poor performance and employ new agencies to complete the target of training every year.
He suggested the officials keep the details of the candidates who have completed skill development training online so that the employers could view the details.
Vice-chairpersons of the governing body Neetu Prasad and Pausami Basu, members Shravan Kumar, Rambabu and Shekhar Reddy and executive director Madhukar Babu attended the meeting.
Mr. Madhukar Babu stated that against the target of training 37,310 youth with Rs.322 core by 2019 fixed by the Centre, 15,186 were already given training and the 22,000 target should be met by the end of current financial year.
The minister told EGMM officials to seek additional target for skill development training for 2018-19 and prepare an action plan to complete it.
