Hyderabad: With intent to help real estate industry deal with skill shortage, Telangana Government mooted an idea of a skilling institute on the lines of ISB.
The builder community should train the people in required skills. Its scope should cover unskilled, semi-skilled and skilled workforce that is deployed in construction. In addition, it should also be a platform for technical people like site engineers, architects, designers, civil engineers, lighting specialists and other trades, said Deputy Chief Minister K Srihari at the CREDAI Awards Ceremony that was held on Thursday evening.
Citing ISB as an successful example, Srihari said the business school was set up Fortune 500 companies. Even as the school admits students for management courses that it offers, it is also a platform for these companies to send in their executives for refresher modules.
The current module, at the National Academy of Construction, has been offering skill development activities but more needs to done to the multidisciplinary field of construction, he said. “There is involvement of multiple specialists in making a building. It will help them they are exposed to new technologies and trends. Also with GST and RERA, there will be a need for more compliance-related disclosures,” he said.
He asked the developer and builder community to work on setting up a skilling academy.
