Modi to launch Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) Skill Centers on July 15

Hyderabad : Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) can now issue the heavy motor driving license, thanks to the Skill India Initiative of the government of India, which has recognized the Transport Academy of the corporation as the Skill Development Centre (SDC).

According to the RTC officials, with a view to develop the skills of unemployed youth and to hone their existing driving skills, government of India proposed to establish Skill Development Center (SDC) throughout the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi would be inaugurating the training institute/SDCs on July 15 through video conference.

The TSRTC had sent a proposal for according the Transport Academy of the corporation as SDC. Based on the request of the corporation, the ministry of Road Transport and Highways approved the proposal of TSRTC for setting up of three SDCs in the existing training institutes at Transport Academy/ Hakimpet, Zonal Staff Training College/HPT and Warangal.

With this the corporation can now train the drivers in its driving testing tracks. The official said that Government of India would be giving funds to run the institution and also authorize the institutions to issue licenses. The Centre had communicated the corporation to initiate training for heavy motor vehicle driving for the needy people. “The Corporation has enough infrastructures in the academy to train the drivers,’’said the official.

The RTC has 0.07 percent of accident rate, which is the lowest in the country and there has been a decrease in the number of accidents during the last two years. There are 20,870 drivers out of the 50,000 staff and 25 percent of the drivers were not involved in any accidents.
