Hyderabad : The State government was planning to bring a new skill development policy to train more unemployed youth, said Chief Secretary SP Singh.
During a review meeting on skill development centres in the Secretariat on Saturday, he said there was a huge need for the skilled persons in the State.
Singh asked the officials to best utilize the Central schemes to improve the skill development centres in rural areas. He also discussed Central funding, coordination among various departments, formulation of skill development programmes and new skill development policy.
The CS wanted officials to get more benefit from the Centrally sponsored schemes such as Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana. Adding this, Singh directed officials to get funds under corporate social responsibility, MPLADS and MLC/MLAs development funds for the establishment of new skill development centres in their respective areas.
“There was a huge requirement of skilled persons in the State due to spurt in industrialization and other developmental activities. Officials should ensure training to more youth and help them acquire jobs,” said Chief Secretary.
He also directed officials to work on a mission mode to draft more skill developmental programmes besides establishing placement cells and infrastructural project monitoring units.
Planning Department Special Principal Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao, Principal Secretary of Labour Rajath Kumar, Industrial Principal Secretary Jayesh Ranjan and TASK officials participated in the meeting.
