Tripura government to set up Directorate of Technical Education to expand job opportunities

Agartala : Besides, expanding the canvass of placement for technically educated youths, the Tripura government has decided to separate the Directorate of Technical Education soon, said Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath here today.

Talking on Good Governance in Technical Education, Mr Nath said that the state government has chalked out a detail plan for streamling technical education to ensure expanding job opportunities in the sectors.

“We have not much scope of employment due to lack of industries but the state can provide platform for better education and training for skill development. It is fact, still the country has dearth of trained technical manpower, which we need to explore,” Mr Nath added.

The separate technical education directorate would help to develop the overall technical education system and contributed to social and economic development of the state besides, better management of human resource to enhancing industrial productivity and improving the quality of life of its people, Mr Nath stated.

He said the BJP-IPFT government is committed to create a good and conducive atmosphere for industry, investment, good governance and best health care system, solve the unemployment problem and obviously quality education which is number one of their priority list.

However, due to scarcity of employment opportunity, most promising and potential courses of fashion technology and food processing technology in Tripura Institute of Technology (TIT) have been suffering from crisis of students despite repeated attempts and upon enquiry it is appeared that the placement opportunity is not sufficient, he added.

Mr Nath further maintained that in order to achieve better coordination and planned development for higher education, the state government has re-constituted the Higher Education Council of the state with the renowned educationists and administrators.
