The United States’ biggest manufacturing exporter Boeing has agreed to impart skill development training to youths in Uttar Pradesh.
The US company planned to begin operations in Aligarh where it would train youths in various skills, confirmed UP minister Siddharth Nath Singh. The minister had invited 34 US companies to consider UP as a safe investment destination, during his March visit to the US.
Boeing was among those big ticket US companies that Singh had visited.
On Saturday, defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman would be in UP to ink a pact with the US company that is also the world’s largest aerospace company and leading manufacturer of jetliners, defence, space and security systems.
Boeing also specializes in providing performance-based logistics and training, the areas that UP looks to benefit from.
The pact with Boeing would take place a day after two other US companies, e-tailer Amazon and General Electric Healthcare Private Limited (GE), sign a pact with the UP government at the first one district, one product (ODOP) summit here on Friday.
President Ramnath Kovind would be in the state capital for the ODOP summit through which UP aims to give a boost to its micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) sector, help in branding products and create job avenues in UP.
UP industries minister Satish Mahana met leading industrialist Ratan Tata in Mumbai on Wednesday. The two discussed the proposed defence industrial corridor in UP.Tata assure the minister of his full cooperation. Union defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman would be in UP on Saturday to launch various projects envisaged under the defence industrial corridor.
General Electric Healthcare Private Limited would also ink a pact with UP Skill Development Mission under which the company would set up skill development training centres at the King George’s Medical University, Lucknow and Lala Lajpat Rai Memorial Medical College, Meerut. “Through these centres our employable youths would get training in health sector and related areas that would increase employment opportunities in the state,” Singh said.
At the ODOP summit, Amazon and commissioner and director of industries would ink an MoU under which Amazon would train businessmen in the MSME sector to list their products on its site. The online retailer has also proposed to set up a microsite titled ODOP on its website. It will put up products of 300 artisans free of cost on its website. Nine districts from where artisans will be selected include Agra, Moradabad, Aligarh, Firozabad, Varanasi, Lucknow, Allahabad and Gorakhpur.
