Lucknow : Advocating vocational training for educated youths, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that ‘Skill on Wheels’ programme should be introduced on a largescale in Uttar Pradesh so that people could get employment at the door steps.
Yogi made this announcement during his meeting with Union Minister of State for Skill Development Anant Kumar Hegde in Lucknow on Tuesday.
“The ‘Skill on Wheels’ programme should be launched in Varanasi, Lucknow, Allahabad, Jhansi, Gorakhpur, Agra and Meerut where educated youths would be given five-day training in the vocation of their choice. They will be given a certificate of ‘Recognition of Prior Learning’,” the CM said. Yogi said that apart from this, youths should be imparted training about basic necessities like plumbing and mason work. “The Union government has taken up the responsibility to construct toilets in rural and urban areas. Trained plumbers and masons will come handy in this scheme and get employment at their door steps,” Yogi said. The Chief Minister also advocated the need to have need-based vocational training.
Hegde said that an institute like IIM could be set up in Kanpur to look after skill development exclusively.
