Uttrakhand first to execute State component plan under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY)

Dehradun : Officials in the State have claimed that Uttarakhand has become the first State to execute the State component plan under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY). According to information provided by officials, under the PMKVY, the training of 60 youths has been started in the Dehradun district. The youth are being trained at a centre here in skills including those of a field technician in computer and peripherals.

The project director Pankaj Kumar Pandey informed that the chief minister of Uttarakhand, Trivendra Singh Rawat has laid special focus on the skill development of the youth in Uttarakhand. With the efforts of the State Government and the mission, Uttarakhand has become the first to have the State component plan in execution.

Some technical problems are being faced in starting the fist training batch of the country which are being tackled in coordination with the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).

Pandey further informed that in the future, other training centres will also be established under the scheme. The mission is committed to providing vocation training to youth at such centres, he added. Under this mission, a target has been set for providing free of cost training to 40,000 youths and to provide employment opportunity by 2020. He stated that before the PMKVY, more than 12,000 youth were provided training in 32 different sectors free of cost under the Uttarakhand Kaushal Vikas Mission and the youth were also provided opportunities for employment or self employment.

A Kushal Uttarakhand application has also been developed under the Uttarakhand Kaushal Vikas Mission. This application enables the user to contact the nearest youth skilled in traders including that of plumber, electrician and others. Under this mission, training programmes were also conducted for the inmates of the Nari Niketan in Dehradun and the district jails in Dehradun, Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar and Nainital. The mission is also faciliting various short term training courses at the different government Industrial Training Institutes (ITI). This year, a course on the repair and installation of the closed circuit television camera will be started at the ITI Haridwar.
