Agartala : Skill Development is the new catchword of policy planners and in a landlocked state like Tripura whose economic infrastructures are literally non-existent, but on the contrary has the highest literacy rate in the country; skill development is lone solution to the growing impediment unemployment. Aiming this, a workshop was held at the Pragya Bhavan.
The focus of the workshop was to sensitize the nodal officers in selecting the right candidates for appropriate skill training and which is most fundamental for transforming capacity building into result-oriented deliberations.
Organised by the Directorate of Skill Development (DSD) in association with the National Skill Development Agency (NSDA), the workshop “Sensitization on National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF)” was inaugurated by Tripura Chief Secretary Y.P Singh, in presence of Vice-Chairman DSD Dr. S K Panda, Principal Secretary, Industries and Commerce M Nagaraju, Director DSD S Prabhu and other dignitaries.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Panda expressed that a state like Tripura, which lacks basic infrastructure, should concentrate and give more importance for development of skill related to primary and tertiary sector since the state shall have to face tough competition with the developed state in the secondary sectors.
However, Chief Secretary Singh viewed that skill development alone cannot give the desired result unless there is qualification framework to select the right person with the right aptitude and for the right skill development training. Tripura has taken the initiative for mass skill development activities all across the state to reduce the unemployment rate among youth and to energize economical development.
