Mumbai : The K11 Academy of Fitness Sciences in association with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), under the Union Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, has aimed to train over 54,000 youths by 2022 to generate employment opportunities for them.
The institute’s move may create career opportunities to youths keen on becoming fitness trainers in gyms or aspiring to become private trainers.
“We are committed to the mandate put upon by NSDC to provide employment to more than 54,000 young Indians by 2022. The youths under training will be charged “nominal” fees,” said Kaizzad Capadia, Director, K11 Academy of Fitness Sciences.
“Our institute is going to spend close to Rs 8 crores over a period of time to strengthen fitness training infrastructure in leading cities of India, including Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Indore and New Delhi and Rs 1.06 crore have been released to us from the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship,” he said.
In July 2015, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched his pet project ‘Skill India Campaign’ mandating Ministry of Skill Development And Entrepreneurship responsible for co-ordination of all skill development efforts across the country, removal of disconnect between demand and supply of skilled workforce.
“We continue to provide highly-skilled fitness trainers to the most well-equipped gymnasiums across the country. We have a stellar 100 per cent track record for the placements of highly qualified K11 trainers. Therefore, NSDC considered us as an ideal partner to promote its mission of skilling young Indians keen on careers in the fitness industry,” Capadia said.
